To open a new file on the open office writer, simple click on the File menu, select New and select Text Document. You may use a command shortcut on your keyboard by typing Ctrl+N button.

Opening New File Using Wizard On OpenOfficeWriter
Click on the File menu and select Wizards. You may choose what template that you want to use. For examples, Letter.
For this example, i choose the letter design. You may select what type of letter that you want to be, for example they have choices like business, formal personal and personal letter. Click next.
You may select the items to be printed as below box.
Put your address as request on the box.
You may fill up the footer information as below. If you like to be numbered, just tick on the box.
Last but not least, click on the finish button to proceed with the templates.

Using Undo Command In OpenOffice
How to use undo command in OpenOffice?
Reverses the last command or the last entry you typed. To select the command that you want to reverse, click the arrow next to the Undo icon on the Standard bar.
To change the number of commands that you can undo, choose Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Memory, and enter a new value in the number of steps box.
Some commands (for example, editing Styles) cannot be undone.
You can cancel the Undo command by choosing Edit - Redo.
